Discovering Learning Potential in Secondary Education Using a Dynamic Screening Instrument

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a newly developed dynamic screening instrument, using learning phase with standardized prompts, assess first year secondary school students’ potential for learning. instrument provide an alternative current static tests. The sample included 55 children (mean age = 13.17 years) from different Dutch educational tracks. screener consisted subtests reading, mathematics, working memory, planning, divergent thinking, and inductive reasoning. Each subtest employed test–training–test design. Based on randomized blocking, half received graduated prompt training between pre-test post-test, while other did not. On some, but not all, subtests, seemed lead increase in performance. Additionally, some constructs measured through were related pilot provides preliminary support use such gain more insight into children’s instructional needs. Directions future research are discussed.
